Vindi Biosystems is a Dutch startup developing a photonic chip for continuous blood biomarker monitoring.
A single laser is coupled into a waveguide a few micrometres wide. Molecules binding to a small sensing window shift the interference pattern inside it, and two photodiodes read that shift as a ratio, so laser drift and temperature cancel out. This removes the spectrometer and the tunable laser which make optical biosensors expensive.
The first patients in mind are the ones whose condition can turn within hours: heart failure and intensive care. The patent was filed with TU Delft in June 2025.
